1. Humayun's Tomb

Apart from being known for its stunning architecture, it is the first garden-tomb of the Indian subcontinent. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and extensive restoration work has been going on since then. The mausoleum was built by Humayun's son Akbar during 1569–70 and is the first structure to have extensively used red sandstone.
