Inextricably linked with the history of
Sikhism, Amritsar is amongst the forem
ost revered sites of the planet.
This city is previously known as Ambarsar and historically Ramdaspur which is located in Punjab state of India.
It derives its name from a pool that surrounds the Golden Temple.
Religious View:
Earlier during the era of Ram Bhagwan, there is a fight between their sons and Ram Bhagwan's men for the horse they left to conquer other states. Lots of people lost their life in this and when this news reaches Maharishi Balmiki, he showers them with "Amrit Varsa" which brought dead people to life.
After a thousand years of this incident, 4th Sikh Guru Ramdas found this place an constructed a pool here, which he named as Amritsar (Pool of Nectar).
Being the second-largest city and district of Punjab, Amritsar carries a population of 11.3 lakh.
Amritsar has been chosen together as one of the heritage cities for the HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of the state of India.
It also proves to be the best shopping destination as it has Hall Bazar, Guru Bazar, Katra Jaiswal Singh Market, Shastri Market, Manjith Mandi, Mishri Bazar, Katra Mohan Singh.
Also as a center of thriving industry since its inception, Amritsar is famed for particularly shawls, its textiles, and its carpets.
This city is also known for its wooden chessboards and chess pieces manufacturing industry.
How to Reach :
Airways: - Located approximately 11 km away from the city center, the Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport of Amritsar has quite more than 160 domestic and international flights. There are daily direct flights from various cities like from and to Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, London, Doha, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur.
Railways: - The Amritsar Railway Station connects the city to almost all major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Agra, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Chandigarh. It takes about 6 hours from Delhi to Amritsar.
Roadways: - Being located on National Highway 1, Amritsar is well connected by road. Daily bus services, including both government and personal run, to and from Ambala, Patiala, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jammu. For transportation within the town, you"ll take rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, taxis or buses.
Where to Visit :
⦁ Golden Temple:- It was made by 5th Sikh Guru Arjun Dev in the 16th century and later on in 19th-century Maharaja Ranjit Singh covers the upper roof of the temple by 400kg of gold surrounded by the holy lake from which the city derives its name i.e Amritsar. It is the place of national importance.
⦁ Jallianwala Bagh:- It marks a point of 19th April 1919, when a huge mass of people wounded and got killed and results in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre that occurred on the site at the festival of Vaisakhi, where Indians to gather and protest. In the morning, the beat of military drums by the cities town criers, 19 locations around the city were read out Brigadier General R.E.H. Dyer's new rules, ordered them to fire towards the crowds. More than 1500 were wounded or killed. And hence regarded as ‘memorial of national importance’.
⦁ Wagah Border:- It measures the distance of 28km from Amritsar and 22km from Lahore. It is the only roadway between India and Pakistan.
⦁ Partition Museum:- It is a historical museum which marks the time the partition of India and Pakistan
⦁ Durgiana Temple:- One of the famous attractions point of Amritsar also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, located near the Lohgarh gate and dedicated to Goddess Durga.Though a Hindu temple, its architecture is analogous to the Golden Temple.
⦁ Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum:- It is situated at Ram Bagh, where Rajas spent there summer. People also find the duplicate of Kohinoor here.
⦁ Khair-Ud-Din-Mosque:- Made in 19th century, located at hall bazar, dhandi gate . The attractive fact about this mosque is its infrastructure and the large no. of people it accommodates to offer Namaz.
⦁ Gobindgarh Fort:- It is most beautiful and one of the magnificent fort of our country localized at Vijay chowk. The most sensual fact about this fort is that before the British invade our country, this was the place where a most precious thing is kept here i.e "Kohinoor Diamond".
⦁ Punjab State War House Memorial and Museum:- situated in Shri Guru Amardas Nagar, where belongings of 1965 and 1971 war are found also one can witness fighter plane INS Vikrant and other tanks too. The main center of attraction here is the presence of a 45meter long and 60 tonn heavy sword (world longest sword).
⦁ Hall Bazar:- Central destination for shopping situated nearby Rambagh crossing.
⦁ Harike Wetlands:- Ideal for bird watching.

सामान्य रूप से सिख धर्म के इतिहास के साथ जुड़ा हुआ, अमृतसर ग्रह के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित स्थलों में से एक है।
यह शहर पहले अंबसर और ऐतिहासिक रूप से रामदासपुर के रूप में जाना जाता है जो भारत के पंजाब राज्य में स्थित है।
यह गोल्डन टेंपल के चारों ओर एक पूल से अपना नाम रखता है।
धार्मिक दृश्य:
इससे पहले राम भगवान के युग के दौरान, उनके पुत्रों और राम भगवान के आदमियों के बीच लड़ाई होती है, जिस घोड़े के लिए वे दूसरे राज्यों को जीतते हैं। इसमें बहुत से लोगों की जान चली गई और जब यह खबर महर्षि बाल्मीकि तक पहुंची, तो उन्होंने उन्हें "अमृत वर्षा" के साथ दिखाया, जिसमें मृत लोगों को जीवन में लाया गया था।

एयरवेज: - शहर के केंद्र से लगभग 11 किमी दूर स्थित, अमृतसर के श्री गुरु राम दास जी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर 160 से अधिक घरेलू और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ानें हैं। चंडीगढ़, दिल्ली, मुंबई, बैंगलोर, लंदन, दोहा, दुबई, और कुआलालंपुर जैसे विभिन्न शहरों से प्रतिदिन सीधी उड़ानें हैं।
रेलवे: - अमृतसर रेलवे स्टेशन शहर को दिल्ली, मुंबई, हैदराबाद, आगरा, अहमदाबाद, कोलकाता और चंडीगढ़ सहित लगभग सभी प्रमुख भारतीय शहरों से जोड़ता है। दिल्ली से अमृतसर तक लगभग 6 घंटे लगते हैं।
रोडवेज: - राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग 1 पर स्थित होने के कारण, अमृतसर सड़क मार्ग से अच्छी तरह से जुड़ा हुआ है। अम्बाला, पटियाला, दिल्ली, चंडीगढ़ और जम्मू से सरकारी और व्यक्तिगत दोनों तरह की दैनिक बस सेवाएँ। शहर के भीतर परिवहन के लिए, आप रिक्शा, ऑटो-रिक्शा, टैक्सी या बस लेंगे।
कहाँ जाएँ:
⦁ स्वर्ण मंदिर: - यह 16 वीं शताब्दी में 5 वें सिख गुरु अर्जुन देव द्वारा बनाया गया था और बाद में 19 वीं सदी में महाराजा रणजीत सिंह ने मंदिर की ऊपरी छत को 400 किलो सोने से ढका था, जिसमें से पवित्र झील घिरी हुई थी, जहाँ से शहर का प्रवेश होता है। नाम का नाम अमृतसर। यह राष्ट्रीय महत्व का स्थान है।
A जलियाँवाला बाग: - यह १ ९ अप्रैल १ ९ १ ९ की बात है, जब वैसाखी के त्यौहार पर स्थल पर होने वाले जलियाँवाला बाग हत्याकांड में भारी संख्या में लोग घायल हो गए और मारे गए और परिणाम आए, जहाँ भारतीयों को इकट्ठा होना और विरोध करना था। सुबह में, शहर के कस्बों द्वारा सैन्य ड्रमों को हराया गया, शहर के चारों ओर 19 स्थानों को ब्रिगेडियर जनरल आर.ई.एच. डायर के नए नियमों, उन्हें भीड़ की ओर आग लगाने का आदेश दिया। 1500 से अधिक घायल या मारे गए थे। और इसलिए इसे 'राष्ट्रीय महत्व का स्मारक' माना जाता है।

Attractions दुर्गियाना मंदिर: - अमृतसर के प्रसिद्ध आकर्षण स्थलों में से एक, लक्ष्मी नारायण मंदिर के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो लोहगढ़ द्वार के पास स्थित है और देवी दुर्गा को समर्पित है। यह एक हिंदू मंदिर है, इसकी वास्तुकला स्वर्ण मंदिर के अनुरूप है।
R महाराजा रणजीत सिंह संग्रहालय: - यह राम बाग में स्थित है, जहाँ राजा गर्मियों में रहते थे। लोग यहां कोहिनूर की नकल भी ढूंढते हैं।
⦁ खैर-उद-दीन-मस्जिद: - 19 वीं शताब्दी में, दालान फाटक, बज़ार में स्थित है। इस मस्जिद के बारे में आकर्षक तथ्य इसकी आधारभूत संरचना है और बड़ी संख्या में है। लोगों ने इसे नमाज अदा करने के लिए समायोजित किया।
Garh गोबिंदगढ़ किला: - यह सबसे सुंदर है और हमारे देश के शानदार किलों में से एक है जो विजय चौक पर स्थित है। इस किले के बारे में सबसे कामुक तथ्य यह है कि अंग्रेजों ने हमारे देश पर आक्रमण करने से पहले, यह वह जगह थी जहाँ एक सबसे कीमती चीज़ यहाँ रखी गई थी यानी "कोहिनूर हीरा"।
⦁ पंजाब स्टेट वॉर हाउस मेमोरियल एंड म्यूजियम: - श्री गुरु अमरदास नगर में स्थित है, जहाँ 1965 और 1971 के युद्ध के सामान भी पाए जाते हैं, जो एक लड़ाकू विमान आईएनएस विक्रांत और अन्य टैंक भी देख सकते हैं। यहां आकर्षण का मुख्य केंद्र 45 मीटर लंबी और 60 टन भारी तलवार (दुनिया की सबसे लंबी तलवार) की उपस्थिति है।
