Madhav Tiger Reserve x Alfa Jungle Retreat: Where Heritage Forests Meet New Horizons
Madhav Tiger Reserve x Alfa Jungle Retreat: Where Heritage Forests Meet New Horizons
Madhav Tiger Reserve offers exciting adventures, combining royal history, serene landscapes, and rich biodiversity to create one of Madhya Pradesh's most intriguing wildlife destinations. Alfa Jungle Retreat collaborates with the newly declared Madhav Tiger Reserve to launch a pioneering ecotourism model that combines nature, heritage, and conscious travel.
About Madhav Tiger Reserve
Madhav is Madhya Pradesh's eighth and most recent tiger reserve, having been declared in 2025. The reserve is located in Shivpuri, in the historic Gwalior region, and covers over 950 square kilometres of dry deciduous forest interspersed with lakes, grasslands, and rolling plateaus.
Madhav, a former royal hunting ground for the Scindia dynasty, is home to architectural marvels such as the George Castle, which was once prepared for a visit by King George V. Leopards, hyenas, jackals, sambar, nilgai, and a diverse range of birds—including storks, herons, and migratory species around Sakhya Sagar and Madhav Sagar lakes—live in the reserve.
With tiger conservation initiatives taking root, the park is transitioning into a new role as a wildlife sanctuary and heritage destination.
