How to Reach Chitwan National Park –

By Road – It is 5-6 hrs approx drive from major cities of Nepal like Kathmandu and Pokhara. There are Several Tourist Bus services to and from Chitwan.

By Air – It is 25 Minutes flight from Kathmandu to Bharatpur Airport from where you will be transferred to lodge in a jeep. The lodge is approx 25 min drive from the airport. 

CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK

Once referred to as Royal Chitwan National Park, today Chitwan National Park is a projected jungle area crammed within the wildlife located in the mid-south Terrai area of Nepal.
It was established in 1973 and given the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 620 sq miles.
Chitwan Park is that the first national park of Nepal . It is abundant or rich in flora and fauna which makes this as a perfect for nature and hiking enthusiasts.
There are two main entrances of Chitwan Park , one is the tourist town of Sauraha in the east and the tranquil Tharu Settlement of Meghauli Village in the west.
Meghauli also has opened as tourists destination recently with the creation of the Tharu Homestay Program to market the village tourism within the area , offering a more authentic and intimate jungle experience
HOW TO REACH
Airways:- The most convenient way to get to Chitwan is to catch a flight from Kathmandu to Bharatpur, Nepal. Domestic airlines like Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines fly directly between the capital and Bharatpur from 8.00 am to 3.30 pm on a daily basis.
Railways:- Nepal does not have a current national rail system. Visitors coming in from India can choose to take a train to the adjoining cities of Varanasi or Gorakhpur, and then proceed via road to the Sunauli border crossing
Roadways:- The easiest way to reach Chitwan Park is by tourist buses from Kathmandu. Buses leave Thamel end of Kantipath in Kathmandu early in the morning. From Pokhara, tourist buses depart from the tourist's bus stand. The bus service is non stop and early booking is advisable here.

BEST TIME TO VISIT
The Park is open all round the year but most of the hotels are closed during monsoon (late june to september end).The most favourable time to visit Chitwan is from October to March. Best time to visit this park is during dry season or most probably end of dry season.
